Ski Chalets in Flaine

Flaine began as a resort in 1968.  It's architect was a leading exponent of the Bauhaus school of design and the resort reflects heavily on this modern art theme.  Today, the concept of concrete purpose built resorts is not so highly favoured, but Flaine has a lot to offer in terms of a ski resort.

There are two centres to the resort, connected by a free lift system.  Flaine Forum is the busier of the two, and lower at 1600m, whilst the higher Flaine Foret is located at 1700m.   In addition, there is a Scandanavian themed village, Hameau de Flaine, consisting of 70 traditional chalets at 1800m.  Further resort expansion is underway with the exciting new village at Flaine Montsoleil. The first residence opened at the start of the 2008 season.

The Grand Massif ski domain links Flaine to the villages of Sixt, Samoens, Morillon and Les Carroz to create a vast region totaling 265 km of pistes. Flaine itself is a huge snowsure bowl encompassing 140 km of pisted slopes.  The resort is somewhat unusual in that one of the green slopes is located at the domain top station.  This enables beginners and novices to see the amazing views of Mont Blanc and the bowl before returning to the resort in the cable car.
